Hand in Hand Foundation Worldwide
www.handinhandfoundation.org.uk

Hand in Hand Foundation Worldwide (HIHFW) is primarily involved in Zimbabwe supporting children, young people and women through three main projects:

1. Caledonia Rose Preschool
Early years learning is provided for children who, with no pre-school experience, would be very disadvantaged on entry to school. The Caledonia Rose Preschool was built by The Foundations Projects in a high density area just outside Harare. It provides preschool education for 100 children of Caledonia who do not have access to such facilities in their community and it feeds 350 children and some expectant mothers too.

2. The smart women and girls project
It is important that women, who are playing a pivotal role in their families, are empowered to keep focused, stay strong and keep the families together. A skills development room houses sewing machines for use by women of the community to make saleable items. A recent donation of fabric has been used by the women and girls to make cushions and bags. A poultry production project is being run and mushrooms have been grown.

3. Supporting Given, a gifted, disabled artist
Given has been supported since he was a child. He was an orphan and had suffered a major accident which resulted in the loss of both arms. HIHFW sponsored him through a training course in Bulawayo where he worked on his artistic ability using his mouth to hold the paint brush. He is now supported living in the community.
