Deanery Synod Vacancies

The Blofield deanery, consisting of 28 Churches in 20 parishes stretching from the Plumstead to Reedham, is looking for a New Lay Chair for its current Triennium to share in chairing of the local deanery synod alongside the Rural Dean – a member of the clergy. The synod meets two or three times a year. The Lay chair is also a member of the standing committee which may also meet several times a year.

Members of the synod are elected at Annual Parochial Church meetings and the clergy of the deanery meet under the joint chairmanship of the Area (Rural) Dean and the Lay Chair. The aim of the deanery is to foster mission, encourage pastoral care and joint activity between the parishes of the deanery. It also acts as a conduit for relevant information between the General and Diocesan synods and the local parishes debating relevant issues from time to time. This is a position that would ideally suit a communicant member of the church of England with an interest in the life of the church – it’s worship and participation in the life of the local community – and its response to key issues and topics of the day.

The deanery is also looking for a secretary to take the minutes of the meetings and circulate them to all members of the synod. From time to time there are other administrative tasks to be undertaken.
